The Basic Start Up Procedure
Trouble Shooting
You can learn a lot from just turning the key ON and watching what happens.
  -   The green back light on the Display will turn     on immediately when system is powered.
-   The Intel processor in Master Module will fire     up about two seconds later after seeing a solid     12 volts +, at which time the characters on the     Display will appear, the Display will beep once     and the servo motor will perform its “auto     tighten” check (and attempt to rotate     clockwise ¾ of a turn) and shaft on servo     becomes locked.
This confirms that electrically the system from Master Module to servo has proper voltage.
If the Display does not beep and become “active” with characters, the Master Module has not started and voltage should be checked. The in-line fuse should also be checked.
Trouble Shooting
Problem - System no longer controls, it beeps to confirm     engagement but drives past set speed and does     not return.
Check:
 1. Perform “auto tighten” test to confirm servo motor is working. (See Appendix, Servo Motor Test and See Appendix, Servo Motor Phase Test).
 2. Perform a “linkage test” to ensure cable has free movement and that the return spring is working.  (Appendix, Linkage Test).
Comments: The fact that the system beeps to confirm         engagement means that the Master Module        sees the speed or rpm and is sending the signal        to servo motor to control. Why is servo /               throttle not responding ?
Trouble Shooting
Problem – PerfectPass is surging and is not smooth in         either RPM or speed based mode.
Check:
1. Perform a “Linkage Test” to see if the cable is catching or hooking and is generally properly installed.
2. Also check brass L adapter at throttle to see if it is swiveling properly as it follows the cable.
Comments: The fact that the system is surging in both
modes indicates that it is a mechanical problem, not a
speed or rpm issue.
Trouble Shooting
Problem – Quite often, the throttle just goes soft and I have     to press the manual throttle forward a long way     to get any speed.  I have to stop the boat and     tighten the black knob on servo.
 Check:
1. Perform a servo motor “auto tighten” test & phase test.
2. Check all connections at servo motor & Master Module for a loose or bad connection. Check red wire around resistor.
3. Change servo power cable if no obvious problem is visible.
Comments: If the servo does not wind in every time the
throttle is returned to neutral, then an electrical “phase”
problem is likely the cause in the cable going to servo.
Trouble Shooting
Problem - The system is set to control at 22 mph. The        customer drives up to and beyond 22 mph, but
the PerfectPass digital speedo only gets to about     10 - 12 so it never beeps and takes control.
    The boat speedometer reads correctly.
 Check:
 1. Perform a “System Reset” to set all values back to original factory standards.
Comments: For some reason the PerfectPass internal
“calibration” is out of sync. A system reset should correct
this problem. You should always ask customer how the
Correct Craft speedometer is working. If it has a similar
issue then it is a paddle wheel issue.
To perform a reset, turn key on and quickly press & hold the
ON/OFF & MENU Keys together as the system starts. Hold
until “System Reset  ^ = Yes” appears.
Trouble Shooting
Problem -  Customer sets PerfectPass at 20.0 mph, it          engages and holds at 20 mph, but a GPS         indicates the actual boat speed is 22.
Check:
1. System requires some minor calibration. Simply press menu key once and “Speedo Calibrate” will appear.  With “Speedo Calibrate” on screen, simply press the down key several times until the actual boat speed is lowered by 2.0 mph.
Comments: Using a GPS is ideal for calibrating PerfectPass
and your regular speedometer. It is not unusual for both to
require some minor tweaking.
Trouble Shooting
Problem – Customer calls and indicates every time he starts      his boat, he notes the PerfectPass servo motor
vibrates for a few seconds. It also appears to be      hot. Is this OK?
Check:
1. This is totally normal. The vibrating is simply the “auto tighten” function which happens on start up. The gold resistor on the servo will run very hot.
Trouble Shooting
Problem – On my 02 Correct Craft, PerfectPass would           display “Lake Temp” when I pressed the Menu &      Up Keys together. On my new 2004 I can’t seem      to find it.
Check: This is normal. Correct Craft has “water temp”    standard on most models so PerfectPass was asked
to remove it from our software.
Trouble Shooting
Problem – The system is blowing fuses, where do I look for      the problem?
Check:
 1. Closely inspect the red wire in the servo power cable, particularly around the servo motor and gold resistor.  (For more details, see Appendix, Investigating Blown Fuse).
Comments:  Typically, the only place where a “ground out”          can occur is in the 12 volt red wire going from          the Master Module to servo motor. (5 amp,          1.25” fuse).  (Maximum 10 amp).
Trouble Shooting
Problem - Customer indicates his WakeboardPro system     does not react quickly enough when he loads his     ballast tanks
Check:  There are two adjustable “pull” parameters called KD & NN.  KD comes factory set at 60.  A higher value such as 100 or 150 will “firm up” the control.  The NN is the filter for the paddle wheel.  It comes set at 160, the higher the number the more revolutions are sampled before a speed change is made.
Comments- Access KD & NN by turning control OFF, then        press Up & Down Keys together.
